The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. A TBM Avenger being readied for flight. The Avenger (TBF for Grumman and TBM for General Motors) was a torpedo bomber used by the US Navy and Marine Corps during WWII. The Avenger first saw action during the Battle of Midway in 1942. This Avenger is on display at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas.
